Being the owner of a rescue dog from the south is a roller coaster full of ups and downs. We were at a low point when we began searching for a trainer or behaviorist who could help us after Gabi developed a new behavior that resulted in an injury to our other dog.

When we first adopted Gabi, she was afraid of nearly everything, including objects as benign as a piece of paper. We had made positive strides, but still had very significant issues with Gabi’s fear of people and things. We cared deeply for her and didn’t want to give up on her, but we were also starting to feel hopeless.

I am so happy that we found A Sound Beginning! Having a trainer come into our home to see Gabi’s behavior in her normal environment helped us to make much bigger strides. Our trainer, Jennifer, was amazing! She was able to see things that we were missing and offer techniques that we could never have thought of on our own. Jennifer was never judgmental and offered past experiences not only with other dogs, but even more personally with her own rescue dogs. Having someone who understands the unique issues of rescue dogs was really important to us. We are in a much better place now and continue to build on what Jennifer taught us. And we know that we can count on Jennifer and A Sound Beginning in the future if we need to work on any issues that develop down the road.
