When we brought Griff home in January 2025, we had no clue how old he was (turns out he was about 7 months). Since he had that certain puppy energy that’s both adorable and capable of driving a person crazy at the same time, we committed ourselves to getting things started off on the right paw as he settled into his new home.
Following some online research, we found A Sound Beginning. They had received rave reviews, and they’re located right in the village where we live. Plus, we were happy to see that they utilize only positive reinforcement methods in their training, so we gave them a call. At that point, Jennifer was assigned to train Griff in our home, and the rest is history!
Jennifer is so warm and friendly, and arrived on Day 1 ready to put Griff (and us) right to work. Over the next few weeks, we learned a lot from Jennifer, and Griff made a new BFF!
Each week, Jennifer demonstrated new drills to work on with Griff, and she gave us homework to do between visits—practice, practice, practice! She also showed us some sanity-preserving enrichment exercises to keep Griff’s brain busy when he started to exhibit a little too much energy for indoors. Near the end of each session, Jennifer patiently answered all our questions, and we had a lot of them.
Griff is a year and five months old now, and just a wonderful dog. Jennifer was the perfect trainer for him: friendly and fun, knowledgeable and patient, and every week she arrived with high-value treats that Griff just couldn’t get enough of.
Long story short, we highly recommend A Sound Beginning—and Jennifer—to all dog owners in the Chicagoland area!
